Chrome Extension

At a glance

  • Plan: All plans
  • Best for: Workspace owners who work inside AI platforms regularly
  • Where to find it: Install from the Chrome Web Store, then click the PrompX toolbar icon or press Alt+Shift+P

Key points

  • The side panel lets you inject a prompt directly into the active AI platform input without copying and pasting.
  • Right-click any selected text on any page to save it as a new prompt immediately.

What this feature does

The PrompX Chrome extension puts your prompt library inside the browser. You can browse, search, copy, and inject prompts without leaving the AI tool you are already using. It also gives you a fast way to save new prompts from anywhere on the web.

Why it is useful

Switching between a prompt manager and an AI tool adds friction to every session. The extension removes that switching cost and keeps the library close to where you actually use it.

How to install

  1. Find PrompX in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
  2. Pin the PrompX icon to the toolbar for faster access.
  3. Click the icon or press Alt+Shift+P to open the side panel the first time.
  4. Sign in with your PrompX account. The extension shares your account with the web app.

The popup

Clicking the PrompX toolbar icon opens the popup. The popup is a compact view of your library.

  1. Browse your prompts with search and category filter chips (All, Favorites, Pinned, and each category you have used).
  2. Copy any prompt with the copy button on its card.
  3. Pin or unpin a prompt without leaving the browser.
  4. Save a new prompt using the save view inside the popup. Enter a title, prompt text, category, and tags, then save.

The side panel

The side panel is a fuller browsing experience that stays open alongside the page you are working on.

  1. Open the side panel by pressing Alt+Shift+P or by clicking the panel button in the popup.
  2. Browse and search your prompts with the same filters available in the popup.
  3. Select a prompt to open its detail view.
  4. Use Copy to copy the prompt text to the clipboard.
  5. Use Inject to insert the prompt text directly into the active AI platform's input field. The button shows the current platform name when a supported page is active.

Supported platforms for injection

PlatformURL
ChatGPTchatgpt.com / chat.openai.com
Claudeclaude.ai
Geminigemini.google.com
Perplexityperplexity.ai
Grokgrok.com

The side panel detects which platform you are on and labels the inject button accordingly. If you are on a non-AI page, the inject button is disabled until you navigate to a supported platform.

Context menu: save selected text

You can save any selected text from any web page directly into PrompX.

  1. Select text on any page.
  2. Right-click and choose Save as PrompX prompt.
  3. The popup opens with the selected text pre-filled in the prompt field.
  4. Add a title, category, and tags, then save.

This is useful for capturing AI responses you want to turn into reusable prompts, saving instructions from a web page, or archiving prompt patterns you discover while browsing.

Tips

  • Keep the side panel open while working in an AI platform to inject different prompts quickly during a long session.
  • Use the context menu shortcut to save good prompt patterns the moment you spot them, instead of copying and pasting into the app later.
  • The extension and the web app use the same library. Prompts saved in the extension appear instantly in the web app and vice versa.

Common use cases

  • Injecting a saved briefing template into Claude or ChatGPT at the start of each work session.
  • Quickly browsing and copying a prompt while working in Gemini without switching tabs.
  • Saving a useful AI response pattern from a web article as a prompt for later use.
